BeltwayTrader — four design prototypes

Built from a survey of 24 leading sites (Sept 2026): 8 consumer-fintech leaders (Stripe, Robinhood, Coinbase, Betterment, Wealthfront, Mercury, Ramp, Public), 8 financial-media & engagement leaders (Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, Morningstar, NerdWallet, Axios, The Athletic, FiveThirtyEight, Finviz), and 8 direct competitors & civic sites (CapitolTrades, Quiver Quantitative, Unusual Whales, OpenSecrets, GovTrack, Polymarket, StockTwits, Barchart/InsiderFinance). All four pages below use live data from trades.db (7,184 filings through 2026-09-02).

What the survey distilled

The four directions

A · The Terminal Bloomberg × Finviz — dark, dense, zero decoration

The data is the page: ticker band, four-stat header, dense filings table, a Finviz-style money map of what Congress is trading, movers and late-filers rails. For the audience that wants maximum information per screenful.

B · The Ledger Stripe × Coinbase × Robinhood — consumer-fintech clean

One bold sentence, one accent color, huge tabular numerals, generous whitespace, a clean disclosed-this-week feed and a 12-month chart. For mainstream credibility and press screenshots.

C · The Briefing Axios × FiveThirtyEight — editorial smart-brevity

The data told as a morning brief: 1 big trade with "Why it matters," a by-the-numbers row, a chart whose headline states its takeaway, a six-item digest, and a newsletter hook. For habit-forming daily readership.

D · The Watchdog Civic accountability × modern fintech — the market gap

"Your reps trade stocks — see the receipts." ZIP-code delegation hook, shareable trade cards with late badges and original-filing links, the Late List scoreboard, and a trust strip. The direction none of the eight competitors occupies.
